It provides much exposition of the text of Revelation. A largepart of the argument deals with the identity of the beast as NeroCaesar, the first imperial persecutor of the Church.
I originally purchased a copy of this book for a research paper I wasdeveloping for a college course. It was only one of about twelve that I hadto read for the paper.
After reading Gentrys book, I found that whenreading the other books, I would frequently go back to refer to Gentrys. This book presents a pretty solid case for a dating of Revelation prior to 70A. This book can easily be described as a cornerstone for any effort intrying to establish any solid foundation in the dating of the book ofRevelation.
Gentry gives the reader the evidences from external and internalwitnesses. At the same time that he presents them, he also lays out whatarguments people have against the pre A. I have yet to find another scholar wholays out the case for or against a pre A.

Before Jerusalem Fell: Dating the Book of Revelation (Book/ Paperback)
When Revelation was revealed to John and written down for the Church to read and understand, it had an immediate impact. Christians were about to witness one of the most devastating judgments in history -- the destruction of the Holy City of Jerusalem. For centuries scholars have argued over when the Book of Revelation was written -- before or after the destruction of Jerusalem in A.
The most accepted but not the most compelling date is around the time of Domitian, at the end of the first century when John would have been nearly years old. A more compelling date for the writing is during the reign of Nero Caesar, just a few years before Jerusalem's destruction at the hands of the Roman commander Titus.
